Tips
-
To measure the square footage of your deck multiply the width times the length of your deck in feet.
-
Example: 12 feet wide X 20 feet long = 240 SQ ft
-
-
If you don't have a tape measure handy you can measure it with your steps.
-
An average step = 3 feet

Pressure Treated Decks

-
Mainenance - Pressure treated decks are the most economical solution however they do require regular maintenance. Depending on their location and exposure to the elements they could need to be sealed every 1-2 years.
-
Painters are the most efficient at staining and sealing so we do not offer this service.
-
A new build quote does not include the first sealing which should be done after 3-4 months from the installation date to allow the wood to dry.
-
-
Material - The common board used for this is a 5/4" x 6" board of different lengths. All the materials on this deck are made from pressure treated wood
Composite and Aluminum

-
Maintenance - Composite decking is a much lower maintenance option and with aluminum railing it severely reduces the amount of time and money you need to put into the deck after the initial installation.
-
Manufacturers - There are many brands of composite decking and each brand has its own levels of product. Warranties and materials can differ from brand to brand and product to product.
-
Price - Because of the large variation of options in this line of products the price can vary widely from $3-$8+ per linear foot. Our calculator is based on a Trex product that we can readily get.
-
Substructure - The framing of this deck is still a pressure treated wood however since it is not exposed to the sun and standing water like a flat pressure treated deck board is, it will last much longer.
